Our Story

Qahwa (the Arabic word for coffee) started as a passion project. Back in 2018, we developed a strong appreciation for specialty coffee. We quickly began to recognize the lack of quality coffee being offered at events. We knew we were not the only ones that crave something other stale drip coffee at events. We wanted to fill this gap in the market and came up with a way to bring cafe quality coffee to any event space.

We immersed ourselves in the world of coffee. Uncovering the rich history and impact that coffee has had on the world, further fed our fascination. We learned that coffee houses were originally the epicenter of conversation and thought. People would gather with the intention of discussing philosophy, socializing and creating art. Coffee has started wars and ended wars. Coffee has made monks skeptical and goats dance. Coffee has sustained whole economies and preserved the history of the world.

From all of this, the idea to serve Traditional Coffee in Non-Traditional Places was born.

Mission

Our mission is to bring the tradition of coffee back into the modern space.

Originally with the name Apt. N Coffee in North Carolina, we shared our passion with our community by providing a unique experience and having specialty coffee accessible at any gathering. We brought coffee to the forefront of every event. It became the star of the show, replacing the boring self-serve options that you drink out of necessity. More and more people fell in love with the idea and before we knew it, we started popping up in places we couldn’t have ever imagined.

Today, we journey here in Houston with the same passion and love for coffee. The name ‘BrewQahwa’ illustrates our commitment to the origin and the story of coffee and we hope to provide people with a platform to learn about this mystical brew.

Millions of people consume coffee every day, but how many of us know where it came from? Akin to the heirloom tomato at the farmers market, coffee has a story. It too sprouted from the ground and was picked by a farmer, well before it was poured in our cups. Whether we use coffee as a way to stay up late studying for a test or we maintain it as part of our morning ritual, most of us have a relationship coffee. Coffee is a universal language, from the mountains of Yemen to the streets of Italy and the Starbucks at Barnes and Nobles.

One of the biggest things we take great pride and responsibility in, is the story we share with it. We aim to bring back the tradition of coffee in the contemporary space. Although we are most widely known for our coffee catering program, we have ambitions of becoming a source of coffee knowledge for all who seek it. Whether you express your love for coffee through art, history or kisses on the rim of your mug, Qahwa is here for you.

However, as we continue to be influenced by coffee experts like Mukhtaar (Port of Mokha) and Ahmad and Omar from the Cairo Coffee Collective, we see a strong shift towards specialty coffee.
